Arm Electronics Connection

A snap in connector for mounting flex cables to test arms also provides the proper grounding capabilities.

The clip 1 has an upper planar plate 2 which is soldered to the flex cable 2 and a lower channel portion 3 with carved resilient hangers 4. The flex cables grounding points are also soldered to the clip which is made out of hardened brass. The clip is inserted into the inner portion of the head arm assembly 5 by means of a pressure fit. This pressure fit is due to the lower radius design of the clip channel portion 3. Clip 1 allows positioning of the arm electronics module close to the head, thereby reducing noise suseptibility while providing strain relief for the head connector. The clip provides a low inductance ground path, yet is easily removed without the use of tools.
