The adaptor shown enables current test fixtures to use magnetic head suspension assemblies with low flying profiles.

The arm 1 has two beveled edges 2 on the rear for mounting into all standard test arm holders. The head suspension assembly datum surfaces (as shown in Fig. 1) fit into the 'V' groove in block 3. The head-suspension assembly (HSA) and block is then pushed back and the HSA's centering hole (datum B) is hooked over dowel 4 and centers itself into the dowels 'V' groove. The spring pressure due to spring 5 forces the HSA datum A and the block 3 forward and parallel for repeatable mounting.
