Floating Edge Connector for Electronic Cards

A floating edge connector for electronic cards reduces the relative motion between card and connector, thus minimizing failure of individual connector interfaces, due to fretting corrosion or wear, experienced in high vibration environments.

The Figure shows that Electronic Card 1, (which is rigidly mounted) is plugged into Edge Connector 2, which is located by Pins 3, through Clearance Holes 4, and retained by Rings 5. It is apparent that Edge Connector 2 is free to move with Card 1 in all directions. It is also apparent that the Edge Connector itself must be cable-connected.
