Flexible Distribution System Connector Removal Tool

Disclosed is a tool for unplugging a Flexible Distribution System (FDS) cable/connector assembly.

The tool is placed over the FDS connector as shown in Fig. 1. While a small amount of downward pressure is maintained on the frame, the puller is compressed upward. The angles on the lower sections of both the frame and the puller causes the puller to compress the connectors retaining clip and pull the connector assembly upward simultaneously.

The frame, puller and supports are carbon filled polycarbonate and the M3 screws are nylon (Fig. 2), thus negating any possibility of conducting an electric shock. The individual parts could either be molded or machined.

The pulling force is greatly increased because of the working concepts of this tool. This tool will not damage the cable and, because the connector is pulled straight out, the connector will not be damaged nor could the pins be bent.
