Interchangeable Window Menu Display Mode

Disclosed is a window manager scheme that allows the user to switch the menu display between the display and hidden modes.

In X-Windows environment, the command menu can only be handled in one of the two modes. In the display mode, the menu is displayed all the time. In the hidden mode, the menu is hidden until the user makes a request, and it becomes hidden again after the command menu function is done. These two modes are not interchangeable while the X-Windows system is running.

This new scheme supports both menu display and hidden modes and allows the user to switch between them at any time through the SET pop-up. With this mechanism, the user has the flexiblity to view the command menu at all time to get familiar with the menu functions or to hide it when the screen becomes crowded.
