Connector Key to Support Plate Alignment

A connector body can be positioned and maintained in the position on its support plate by extending the shaft of a connector key to engage an opening in the plate at assembly.

In the figure, connector 1 partially illustrated, is aligned with and secured on support plate 2 that is bonded at 3 to the back of printed wiring board 4. Connector 1 is held in place by the engagement of screw 5 with key 6 passing through hole 7 in the connector. By making the body of key 6 sufficiently long to enter opening 8 in the plate, the position of the connector relative to the plate can be assured.
