Affinity Support for Personal and Non-Personal Document Stapling

A method is described to permit stapling of a non-personal document to a personal document, when they are mailed. The logical organization of these documents are linear. An affinity recipient access to a document may be limited to the non-personal document. This method allows the affinity recipient to access only those documents that are permitted to be accessed by the primary recipient.

The new method provides a protocol for an application to permit personal or non-personal classification when two documents are stapled and mailed. This is done by providing an option to indicate whether the user wants to classify the document personal or non-personal at document staple and send time.

The method also provides a protocol for an application to limit the access of stapled documents by an affinity user. An affinity user can act on behalf of a primary user, but an affinity users access to a primary user's mail is limited to non- personal.
