Manufacturing Disk Lift

The invention automatically lifts a disk out of a manufacturing cassette while the cassette is being set down into place in assembly or similar operations. This permits outside diameter access by robot grippers and manual tools.

In Fig. 1, a lift 1 is a cut out inner portion of a shipping container. Lift 1 is mounted flat to a plate 2. Plate 2 is lifted approximately four inches in the air by the spacers 3. A cassette 4 full of disks is shown in Fig. 2. Cassette 4 is lowered over lift 1. Lift 1 is inserted through a hole in the bottom of cassette 4. Lift 1 raises the disks to the four-inch height. At this point, the outside diameter is exposed, thereby permitting the random access of disks by robot grippers or manual tools. When finished loading or unloading, cassette 4 is lifted up which automatically puts the disks back into the appropriate slots in cassette 4 for the next operation.
