Abstract

The Volume Control and Mix Controller described in the preceding article is optically isolated from the controlling personal computer (PC) to minimize the PC-generated noise coupled into the controlled audio. The digital control lines that run from the PC to the Audio Volume and Mix Controller (VMX) are optically coupled to the VMX digital section. This eliminates any direct electrical connection between the PC and the VMX which, in turn, eliminates the coupling of any PC electrical noise into the VMX controlled audio.
