Abstract

In processing an online document, the ability to use references to another page or figure in the document can be enhanced by providing a facility to detect these references and allow them to be selected. The implementation employs the tab key to automatically move the cursor from its normal position on the command line to the first cross reference appearing anywhere in the displayed text. This causes the reference found to become "reverse emphasized". Pressing "enter" causes the selected page to be displayed. Subsequent 'tabs' cause the next reference to be emphasized or the cursor to return to the command line when there are no more references.
