Abstract

A transparent template is used as a registration alignment device for bottom probing test equipment. The template eliminates the normal trial and error associated with blind alignment. The device works as follows. The template 1 is placed in a nylon-locating nest 2. The probe head 3 is raised, and the contact probes 4 on the probe head 3 are visually aligned with the holes 5 on the template in both the X and the Y directions. Because the template is transparent, the contact probes 4 are visible through the template 1. The template is a dimensional replication of the substrate or object to be tested.
