Abstract

A technique is described whereby an automatic molding press unloading mechanism simplifies mold unloading, part desprueing and canister loading during the manufacturing of molded parts. The multi-function unloading mechanism is a complete automatic self-contained assembly designed to eliminate manual operations. The automatic molding press unloading mechanism is mounted to angle welded support frame 10, as shown in the figure, and is secured to moving part 11, which in turn is mounted onto molding press base 12. By having the mechanism mounted so as to operate in conjunction with the molding of the parts, the cycle time of the unloading mechanism is able to occur during the molding press cycle time, thereby eliminating the need to add additional follow-on operations.

The multi-function unloading mechanism is a complete automatic self-contained assembly designed to eliminate manual operations. The automatic molding press unloading mechanism is mounted to angle welded support frame 10, as shown in the figure, and is secured to moving part 11, which in turn is mounted onto molding press base 12. By having the mechanism mounted so as to operate in conjunction with the molding of the parts, the cycle time of the unloading mechanism is able to occur during the molding press cycle time, thereby eliminating the need to add additional follow-on operations. The multi-function mold unloading arm device 13 is attached to the piston rod end of multi-motion horizontal actuator 14. Attached to horizontal actuator 14 is multi-motion air vertical actuator 15 which is equipped with a two-position rotary cylinder. Vertical actuator 15 provides a 7o pivot clearance of the mold before retracting unloading device 13. Vertical actuator 15 also provides a second position 150o pivot and is equipped with a lifting and lowering cylinder. Support plate 16 is mounted to the end rod of a lifting cylinder, so as to enable support plate pivots, mounted to horizontal actuator 14, to lift and lower mold unloading device 13. Horizontal actuator 14 is equipped with a 90o rotational air actuator, used for rotating unloading device 13. A linear air actuator coupled to rotary horizontal actuator 14 is used to extend and retract unloading device 13.
