Abstract

The outer jacket of a cable is removed near the point where a grounding clamp is to be attached to the cable braid that underlies the jacket. The outer jacket is left in place where the cable clamp is to be attached. A short length of braided metal sleeve is slipped over the cable with about half of the sleeve in contact along the full length of the exposed braid of the cable and the rest of the sleeve overlying the outer jacket of the cable where the clamp is to be attached. Two pieces of shrink tubing are placed over the sleeve, leaving the sleeve exposed in the region where the ground clamp is to be attached but sealing the sleeve on either side of the ground clamp position and holding the sleeve tightly in contact with the underlying braid.
