Fig. 1 illustrates a component placement machine in which the centering "tweezer mechanism" is actuated by an air cylinder on the down stroke and a tweezer spring for the return stroke.

This presents problems when binding or friction prevents smooth and rapid return of the tweezers by the spring.

In Fig. 2 a fixture 10 including a pin 11 and a return spring 12 have been added to the actuator arm to positively restore the tweezers.
