Modular temperature control for deep fat fryers

    Many deep fat fryers have a removable bowl which can be cleaned by immersing it in water to facilitate its cleaning. In order to achieve this, all of the electrical components, except possibly the heating element, remain fixedly mounted in the housing. To control the oil temperature in the bowl, there needs to be at least one thermal contact between the bowl and at least one heat responsive control means. It is essential that the thermal contact is reliable when the bowl is removed from the housing and put back again.

    Here a solution is described in which the contact areas of the heat responsive control means do not slide along the wall of the bowl. The relative displacement of the contact area of the heat responsive control means with respect to the wall of the bowl is zero when the bowl is placed in or removed from the deep fat fryer. This can be achieved by mounting the one or more temperature sensitive control means on a base plate of which the displacement is derived from the displacement of the bowl when it is placed in or removed from the deep fat fryer.

    This provides a solution for a reliable thermal contact between one or more heat responsive control means and the wall of a bowl of a deep fat fryer.
