Multi-Function Molds Unloading Device

A technique is described whereby a multi-function mold unloading device provides automatic locating, gripping, part desprueing and trimming of manufactured molded parts. The multi-function mold unloading device is designed to eliminate manual operations which in prior art required individual functions for locating, securing, removing and desprueing parts being processed on assembly lines.

The device, as shown in the figure, is attached to rod 10 of the multi-function air actuator, not shown, and consists of a pair of quick replaceable cut-off blades 11, which provide the desprueing function. Cut-off blades 11 are attached to a pair of scissor type arms 12. Equalizing taper wedge 13 is attached to air cylinder 14 to provide the cut-off operating function. Photocell 15 detects the sprue when the molded part is ejected from the mold. Spring loaded locating pin and bushing assembly 16 is positioned by air cylinder 17, so as to operate the locating pin slide in assembly 16. The device also includes air operated parallel motion equalizing gripper 18 and a pair of sprue clamping jaws 19 attached to gripper 18.
