Stiction values must be controlled when manufacturing disks. The lube levels have been shown to be one of the contributors to high stiction.

Optically Simulated Electron Emission (OSEE) technique has the ability to check disks fast and can be used to screen either full disks or parts of disks. It can be easily automated and several probes can be multiplexed. It is also a non- contact method and is used in air.
