Abstract

The disclosed driver circuit is an open collector (non-inverting) type capable of supplying up to a predetermined output current in the down level while maintaining a predetermined output voltage level. The split resistor combination of R1 and R2 is for the purpose of establishing the desired DC noise tolerance. When input A is up (1 level), transistors T2 and T4 are on and the base of T3 is down. Thus, no current will be supplied to T5, T6, T7 and T8, and the output node (A) will be up. Note that T4 with resistor R7 provides active pull-down to turn off T5, T6, T7 and T8. When input A drops to a 0 level, T1 conducts turning off T2/T4. Under this condition T3 conducts, sending current through R3, R4, R5 and R6 to pull output node (A-) down.
