Abstract

A carrier is used to pick up and deliver materials in a clean room. The act of picking up parts or assemblies almost always involves sliding contact which produces particles. At the same time, a zone of turbulence is formed under the part or carrier which carries particles upward in the air stream. Both of these effects limit the use of vertical storage in clean rooms. Proposed here is an additional active filter system below the carrier and attached thereto. The filter system has a prefilter, a motor blower (fan) system, and a second filter. As shown in the drawing, air is forced through both the prefilter and the second filter. By doing this, the particles generated by the picking up of the product are captured and the clean laminar flow of air is maintained over the products below.
