Abstract

This article describes a conductive plate positioned adjacent a photoconductive surface in an electrophotographic machine, positioned prior to the charge corona and subsequent to the cleaning station in the direction of photoconductor travel. The conductive plate is charged to attract any oppositely charged residual toner remaining on the drum surface after the cleaning operation. The figure shows a photoconductive surface 10 mounted on drum 11 for rotation in direction A. A conductive plate 12 is mounted on a dielectric 13 and electrically connected by connection 14 to the grid potential of charge corona 15 to collect toner that might otherwise contaminate the grid.
