Abstract

This article describes a device for assuring accurate placement of a cable connector panel to automated test equipment. In Fig. 1, alignment locator pin 2 passes through hole 3 in panel 4. Pin 2 is provided with pawl 6 for engagement with panel 4 of the product under test. Fig. 2 shows the engagement mechanism in more detail. Pawl 6 rides on member 8. Connector panel 4 may not be its optimum upright position, so that activation of solenoids or air cylinder 14 causes pawl 6 to travel counterclockwise and contact panel 4, thereby straightening it and assuring proper alignment between the test equipment connectors 16 and panel connectors 18.
