Abstract

This article describes a simple, reliable mechanism for presenting screws seriatim for pick-up by a magnetic finder. Fig. 1 shows screws in a supply feed track 2. One screw is positioned in plunger 4 connected to spring return air cylinder 6. In Fig. 2, pressure has been applied to move plunger 4 upwards. The screw in plunger 4 is presented for pick-up while those screws remaining in feeder track 2 are positively restrained by the sidewall of plunger 4. After pick up, the spring in air cylinder 6 expands. Plunger 4 is lowered, and the next screw from feeder track 2 enters the slot in plunger 4.
