Abstract

A tester is described that provides a safer, more accurate test device for diskette track location testings. It may be adapted for testing 5.25-inch diskettes in one version and 8.0-inch diskettes in a second version. The tester is used to inspect incoming alignment diskettes and verify track location on recorded diskettes. As shown in the drawings, the tester includes a DYMEK* micrometer drive 1 and a MICROCODE** Model 800 meter 2 and places them into a cabinet. All required test points, controls, voltage sources, indicators, and operator safety features are included. Drive 1 is selected to accommodate the particular diskette size involved, i.e., 5.25- or 8.0-inch. Power supplies 3 and 4 are 5 volts and 12 volts, respectively, for the 5.25-inch diskette tester and 5 volts and 24 volts, respectively, for the 8.
