Abstract

A small needle-like drill preassembled in its collet can be safely inserted in a spindle with a handle having a partially open shield. Referring to the figure, collet 1 having an annular recess 2 and drill bit 3, held therein by a setscrew 4, is inserted in a mating semi-circular cut-out 5 of a handle 6. The handle has a semi-cylindrical guard 7 depending therefrom that covers the end of the drill and permits manual force to be used to seat the collet and drill upwardly in spindle 8.
