Abstract

The displacement of a moving ink ribbon of a line printer is corrected by a camming mechanism for horizontally shifting the ribbon spool shaft. Spool 10 is connected on one end by sliding hub 11 to the drive shaft 12 of ribbon drive motor 13. The opposite end of spool 10 is connected by hub 14 to a rotary cam shift mechanism operated by correction motor 15. The cam shift mechanism is a limited cam shift mechanism comprising cam plates 16 and 17 coaxially supported on the drive shaft 18 of correction motor 15. The opposing faces of cam plates 16 and 17 have sector cam grooves 19 each occupied by a roller ball 20. Cam plate 17 which is fixed to drive shaft 18 has a stub portion 21 which slidingly supports cylindrical portion 22 of plate 16.
