Abstract

A threading device to position a magnetic tape into a drive for sensing includes a pick-up device attached to a belt and pulley system. The pulleys with the belt define the tape path. The pick-up device includes a two-diameter shaft that uses its smaller diameter to enter a slot in the leader block of the cartridge and its larger diameter to lock with the leader block. The drive system of the figure for threading a tape from a tape reel 1 in a cartridge 2 includes two pulleys 3 and 4, and a belt 5 onto which a block 6 is fastened. A threading pin 7 is journaled to the block 6. The threading pin 7 interfaces with a leader block 8 that is connected to the free end of the tape in the cartridge 2.
