Abstract

A cascode voltage switch (AOAOI) logic circuit is provided which has reduced layout area, power and delay. (It is applicable, for example, in look-ahead carry circuits. The logic circuit is formed in complementary metal oxide silicon (CMOS) technology. This logic circuit, illustrated in the figure, provides the group carry term C = (G0 + P0G1 + P0P1G2 + P0P1P2G3 + P0P-1P-2P-3C-i)K7 + K8. The layout of this circuit is very regular as it forms into a rectangular array to provide improved density. P channel devices are identified by P, and N channel devices are identified by N. True and complementary outputs C and C, respectively, are available. It can be seen, e.g., that if the voltage to the control gate K 8 is high, thus K8 is low, the voltage at output C is high and output C is low.
