Abstract

A circuit board contact cleaning tool is provided for cleaning contaminated contact pins that may cause resistance failure. The tool consists of a sulphur-free rubber 2, impregnated with a fine abrasive material, that is bonded to a handle 3 or blank circuit card 4 (Figs. 1A and 1B). A slight interference fit (Fig. 2) causes a conformity of the rubber/abrasive surface 2 to the pin configuration 5. The inserting and retracting of the tool between the rows of pins (Fig. 3) results in the removal of contamination from the pins. The tool can be made in a 1-, 2-, 3- or 4-wide configuration so that a full card or a single I/O position can be cleaned.
