Abstract

A three-component (i.e., a ternary) flux composition can be formulated as follows: a) a polyol stable at high temperatures, such as glycerol or lower molecular weight ethylene glycols; b) a chelating agent, such as DTPA, miscible in all proportions, and which is stable at high temperatures; c) a fluorocarbon surfactant, such as potassium fluoroalkyl, which has good thermal stability and compatability with the polyol and chelating agent.
