Abstract

The configuration aid provides a method of matching a remote workstation controller with attached work stations and host teleprocessing connections, thus eliminating common configuration errors in customer setup situations. Workstations are cabled into the controller using any valid port/ station address. The controller polls all possible workstation/port station address combinations, retaining the address and type of workstation responding to a poll, and provides an informational display of the current configuration. Acceptable configuration data can be saved for subsequent use; unacceptable configuration data can be changed and redisplayed. This aid is used without any host interaction; therefore, configuration can be done in parallel with host system setup.
