Abstract

Automatic regeneration of object sets based on object set types and upon intermingling of different types of object sets facilitates later integrated information processing. Different types of information such as text, tables, graphics, etc., are defined as object sets. However, object sets are often intermingled. This will occur when an operator: 1) selects an object different from the one currently being edited; 2) selects a Get action and specifies an object different from the type selected before selection of Get; or 3) copies or moves an object from one object set into a different type of object or object set. When intermingling is called for, regeneration of object sets is in order to facilitate further integrated processing.

Automatic Object Set Regeneration

Automatic regeneration of object sets based on object set types and upon intermingling of different types of object sets facilitates later integrated information processing. Different types of information such as text, tables, graphics, etc., are defined as object sets. However, object sets are often intermingled. This will occur when an operator: 1) selects an object different from the one currently being edited; 2) selects a Get action and specifies an object different from the type selected before selection of Get; or 3) copies or moves an object from one object set into a different type of object or object set. When intermingling is called for, regeneration of object sets is in order to facilitate further integrated processing. If the operator selects Draw Graph, Business Graph, or Table when in the middle of a text object, a new object set of the appropriate type must be created. If the operator is in the middle of a Text object and selects an object that is non-text in the Get action, an object set of the appropriate type is created when intermingled. When the operator copies an object from within one object set into another such as when a rectangle from a graphic object set is copied into a paragraph, an object set of the appropriate object set type is created to accommodate the copied object. Regeneration is automatic under system control.
