Abstract

A paddle wheel solder chimney is designed to work in conjunction with an existing solder pump to allow greater surface agitation without increasing solder velocity. This improves solderability velocity without causing high solder defects associated with high solder velocity. The paddle wheel can be self-starting or directly driven. The end 11 of the chimney 12 is machined to allow attachment to a flexible drive shaft 13 for connection to the variable speed motor. The end plates 15 are made vertically adjustable to allow for paddle wheel height changes.
