Abstract

A soluble, organic conductor is used as an additive to carbon-loaded polymers, such as polycarbonate films. The addition of such an additive permits the use of low carbon loadings, while still maintaining conductivity. In this way, high conductivity and good mechanical properties can be realized over a broader range of compositions. A preferred additive is TPBTP-TCNQ2 (tetraphenylbis- thiopyranylidene-tetra-cyano-p-quinodimethane). Adding only about 1% by weight of such an organic conductor increases conductivity by about 60 to 80%.
