Abstract

Dummy lands 14 are coated with a protective coating 11 to prevent scratching of the gold plating (not shown) of the copper edge connector tabs 12 of a printed circuit card 10 during side entry of the card 10 into a mating edge connector (not shown). The resultant small raised area 13 of the coating 11 on the lands 14 protects the gold surface of tabs 12. The lands 14 can be formed at the same time as the edge connector tabs 12 and preferably are interleaved with them.
