Abstract

A number of prior art automatic teller machines have special key switches located adjacent to a display. The messages displayed on the display in effect label one or more of the key switches so that each key switch can have a different meaning during each step of a self-service financial transaction. This disclosure contemplates replacing the separately mounted key switches with a transparent touch panel mounted to the face of the display. Use of a touch panel removes the confusion regarding which key switch is associated with a certain label on the display, inasmuch as pressing the words of the label being displayed will initiate the action described in the displayed label.
