Abstract

Attachments are possible with this test probe assembly. The test probe assembly includes four cylinders 10 with tapered leading edges that push against two tapered shoulder screws 12. Attached to the cylinders are steel strips 14 laminated with rubber 16. The two resulting strip 14 and cylinder 10 assemblies are then fitted into a nylon block 18 and held against the tapered shoulder screws by four retractor springs 20.

Self-Locking Test Probe Assembly

Attachments are possible with this test probe assembly. The test probe assembly includes four cylinders 10 with tapered leading edges that push against two tapered shoulder screws 12. Attached to the cylinders are steel strips 14 laminated with rubber 16. The two resulting strip 14 and cylinder 10 assemblies are then fitted into a nylon block 18 and held against the tapered shoulder screws by four retractor springs 20.

The entire assembly is made to fit into the cavity of a circuit board. When the tapered screws are turned in a clockwise direction, the steel strips 14 are forced out putting pressure on the cavity walls and automatically locating the block in the center of the cavity.
