Axial leaded components moving along a feed path can be maintained in alignment by using air jets issuing in opposite directions and substantially parallel to properly oriented leads.

Referring to the figure, axially leaded components 1 supported on parallel rails 2 are urged in the direction of the arrow by an in-line vibratory feeder, not shown. Manifolds 3 having openings 4 are supplied with pressurized air. The resulting jets are directed slightly upward against the component leads 5. Any skewed lead experiences an aligning force from the jets to thereby maintain perpendicularity with respect to the rails.
