Tri-Lead Tester

A pair of polyimide coated ground conductors from tri-lead cable that are each twisted with an uninsulated conductor can be installed together in a test chamber for successive tests of insulation breakdown.

Referring to the figure, coated conductors 1 twisted with bare conductors 2 form wire pairs that are installed under respective clips on a test stand 3 enclosed in a protective housing 4. Each pair of conductors is in turn connected with terminals of a double pole-double throw switch 5. A power supply 6 is connected to the switch. This arrangement enables testing both ground wires from a tri-lead cable in succession with a single loading on the test stand.
