The removal of connectors from their housings by tensile stress provides more accurate force measurements when holding the housings in a fixture.

Referring to the figure, housing 1 with attached connector 2 and wire cable 3 is accommodated in a recess 4 of fixture 5. The housing engages ledges 6, 7 of the recess when tension is applied to the cable. Clamping of the housing is not necessary. Fixture 5, having a shank 8 for gripping, can be formed of two pieces 9, 10 of metal flat stock secured together by suitable means 11. A swingable cover 12 may be attached, if necessary.
