Abstract

Fiber optic connectors are often assembled using thermally-sensitive adhesive. It is suggested that such connectors be made separable by including a heating coil in the connector body adjacent the glue region. By energizing the heating coil, the adhesive could be softened sufficiently to allow the connector to be disassembled.
