Adhesive Ring Application Fixture

In magnetic tape reels and like elements it is often necessary to provide a label which must be precisely located so that it can be readily seen and not interfere with the normal operation of the element. The figure shows a tool for accurately and quickly placing an adhesive ring or label on a tape reel.

Adhesive label 2 is placed on an outer raised portion of a support 3. The adhesive surface of label 2 is upwardly exposed in the figure. The outer ring 1 provides a supporting shoulder for a tape reel. The reel is placed on the shoulder of ring 1 and pressed downward against the spring 4 to compress a label receiving surface of the reel against label 2. The area of support 3 inside the label support surface provides a well area that can receive an inner flange portion of the reel.
