Automatic Document Feeder

One feeder supplies successive original documents to any copier by matching its supply chute to the copier's inlet.

A copier 1 original document inlet 2 transfers documents to an imaging station 3 and then stacks them at an outlet 4. The feeder 5 chute 6 matches the inlet 2 by pivoting about horizontal axis 7 and is positioned by the location of a vertically movable feeder section 8 relative to a base 9. As shown, the chute 6 feeds documents from a lower bin 10. If the chute 6 is instead located adjacent to an upper bin 11, a different set of documents may be accessed. In this case, feeder section 8 is lowered to align chute 6 with inlet 2. In the lowest position of feeder section 8, normally retracted casters 12 (one of four is shown) are lowered to the floor to make the feeder mobile.
