A print actuator 10 has a stator frame 11 and one or more hammer beams 12 mode entirely of magnetic sheet material.

Stator frame 11 is precut and folded from a flat sheet of magnetic material. Spaced pivot support arms 14 and 15 are cut and folded to extend from a vertical rear wall 16 so as to be parallel with and above the base portion 17. A stop arm 18 is cut and folded at an oblique angle from wall 16. A spring bias arm 19 is cut and folded vertically from the forward edge of base 17 so as to be parallel with vertical wall 16. Spring bias arm 19 terminates at a point above pivot arms 14 and 15 in a crook bend 20 to provide a curved bearing surface 21.

Hammer beams 12 are each a one-piece construction of rigid magnetic sheet steel formed with a forwardly bent actuator blade 22 and a vertical overhang extension 23. Notches 24 (Fig. 3) are cut in opposite edges of beam 12 to receive and pivot on the edges of support arms 14 and 15. The hammer beam is inserted by moving spring finger 19 outwardly and sliding support arms 14 and 15 through notches 24. Magnetic post 25, with one end attached to vertical wall 16, forms a magnetic gap 26 with opening 29 in the tapered end 28 of hammer beam 12. Coil 27 on post 25 is connectable to suitable circuitry for operating hammer beam 12 by pivoting action on arms 14 and 15 against spring force of bias arm 19.
