Programs and Screens Used to Generate and Transmit extracts from a Data Base

Using a foreground interpreter it is possible to interactively create the GIS (Generalized Information System) statements required for batch creation of extracts from an IMS (Information Management System) data base.

The procedure allows end-users to create the extracts with little or no knowledge of either TSO (Time Sharing Option) or GIS. Previously, a user had to have either a working knowledge of both or rely on a programming department to write the extract.

For example, after a user fills in the following full screen displays

==> FAMILY CODE

==> PRODUCT CODE

==> X SERIAL NUMBER

==> PART/JOB NUMBER

==> COPPER LOTS (FRONT AND BACK)

==> OPERATION NUMBER

==> DATE RING IN

==> X PAQ DATE

==> INSPECTION CODE

ENTER OPERATOR ==> bt SERIAL NUMBER VALUES:

EQ (EQUAL) (DEFAULT) ==> 00000000 ==> gggggggg

NE (NOT EQUAL) ==> ==>

GE (GREATER THAN) ==> ==>

LT (LESS THAN) ==> ==>

GE (GREATER OR EQUAL) ==> ==>

LE (LESS OR EQUAL) ==> ==>

BT (BETWEEN) ==> ==>

ENTER OPERATOR ==> gt PAQ DATE VALUES : (YYMMDD)

EQ (EQUAL) (DEFAULT) ==> 810415 ==>

NE (NOT EQUAL) ==> ==>

GT (GREATER THAN) ==> ==>

LT (LESS THAN) ==> ==>

GE (GREATER OR EQUAL) ==> ==>

LE (LESS OR EQUAL) ==> ==>

BT (BETWEEN) ==> ==>

the following GIS statements are generated:

WHEN ITMSERN BT '00000000', '99999999' ;

LOCATE OPERHIST

*******OPER HIST FIELDS*******

IF OPRPAQD GT '810415';

AND OPRVTYP EQ '0002'
