Units are tested by AC isolation transformer coupling of power to the units with diagnostic test sequencing and high potential testing performed on-line.

The structure shown allows testing of unit 10 which is located on an electrically insulated pallet (not shown) and tested with voltage isolation from ground. AC power from source 12 is coupled through an isolation transformer 15 to plugs 16 and 17. In the testing process, power is applied to unit 10 through plugs l6 and 17 and three-wire cord 18 through an on/off switch (not shown). The machine is cycled through its diagnostics such as powering of AC motor 20 and sequential testing of electronics coupled to output 21 of internal transformer
22. As part of the testing procedure, high potential power supply 25 is actuated and applies high voltage potential to all primary circuits. Leakage current to the frame through the ground wire is measured such as by current meter 26.
