Abstract

A computer program is disclosed for use in integrated circuit-computer assisted design, to carry out the function of shifting a vector so that it can assume a position which is a predefined distance from a given reference point. Figs. 1 through 4 illustrate the operation of the program, and Fig. 5 is a flow diagram of the program.

A computer program is disclosed for use in integrated circuit-computer assisted design, to carry out the function of shifting a vector so that it can assume a position which is a predefined distance from a given reference point. Figs. 1 through 4 illustrate the operation of the program, and Fig. 5 is a flow diagram of the program.

The invention is a method of accurately changing the position of a vector on a graphics system. The program permits the user to:

1) Detect (by light pen position) the polygon whose

vector (or side) is to be positioned;

2) Detect (by light pen) the vertex on the screen

that the vector is to be positioned in relation

to;

3) Type in the desired delta X or delta Y

displacement; and

4) Repeat the process until all vectors of the

selected shape have been positioned, as desired.

The existing systems provide a "stretch" feature which moves the desired vectors, but the final position of the vectors in relation to another point on the display is unknown. This is a serious handicap when designing to tight ground rules, as is normally done.
