Fault-Tolerant Clock

A clock is shown which is able to return from an unknown to a known state and restart within one clock period.

The clock comprises a shift register of three latches 10-12 and an AND circuit 13 fed by an oscillator. As shown by the state table of Fig. 3, the clock can return from an unknown state (x,x,x) to a known state (0,0,0) within one clock period. A normal clock period is then illustrated.
