Abstract

A drop-on-demand ink jet print head 10 is formed of a plastic body 11 and a nozzle plate 12 securely mounted thereon. To resist cracking from differential expansion between head 11 and nozzle plate 12, the nozzle plate 12 is constructed of a material such as sapphire. A fluoro-silane film layer 13 on the nozzle plate provides low surface tension to minimize ink wetting of the outer surface.
