Abstract

The support panel is to be used for connecting a pack to external lines while enabling further modular extensions. The panel is made of two parts. The first part (see figure) comprises a U-shaped steal stiffener with a number of apertures (A, B, C) through which individual connectors (A', B', C') extend. The second part comprises essentially a flexible printed circuit board supporting and electrically interconnecting the connectors A', B', C' with each other, as required. All components are on the same side of the printed circuit allowing the wave soldering process. The flexible printed circuit once equipped with the connectors is U-folded, as shown in the figure, before being engaged (see arrows) into the stiffener part. The stiffener may be attached to the rack back panel by using two screws extending through D and D'.
