Abstract

Exposure of a polyether lubricated disk coating to a negative corona results in the bonding of a fraction of the lubricant to the disk surface. In addition, the lubricant is spread over and into the microstructure of the coating surface. The result is a more uniform lubricant that is less sensitive to de-wetting by contaminants. The partial bonding of the lubricant is demonstrated by an irreversible weight gain (after washing with FREON*) for disks that are corona-treated.
